Trail Clearing Events 2024

2024 Trail Maintenance Dates: June 9, July 28, August 18, September 1, October 27, November 24. Annual meeting and workday is Saturday, October 12.

Come and enjoy a day on the trails when lush green leaves, flowers, beavers (and perhaps a few biting flies) are out and about. The FFGT Trail Committee will sponsor guided workdays on monthly summer Sundays starting in June. Anyone who can hike and carry a hand tool is welcome to join. A crew leader will provide personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles and hearing protection) along with hand tools (saws and loppers). Volunteers are expected to wear boots and encouraged to bring their own gloves and whatever trail hand tools you have. 

"Summer Sunday Trail Workdays" dates, 10 am to 1 pm: 

Trail saws, nippers, loppers and brushcutters are welcome. Insect repellent (aka. bug dope) is also a good idea. Personal chainsaws are only encouraged (and users are only covered by USFS for injury) if the user has a chainsaw safety certificate from the USFS or equivalent training, and follows the FFGT safety practices. 

Volunteers normally meet at the Flathorn beach trailhead or National Forest Lodge and will sign in and receive a brief orientation and safety training by the crew leader. The USFS covers sponsored volunteers with Workers Compensation provided they follow FFGT safety practices. If you have a group interested in working on other dates, let us know and we may be able to provide a crew leader to work with your group. 

The Flathorn-Gegoka trails are on US Forest Service land and open to the public all year. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to carry hand tools to help with trail maintenance on their own anytime. However, unsponsored volunteers accept their own risk for any mishaps while on the trails.
